A.M. Ventures launched its agricultural enterprise in Baolala in rural Malindi through its agricultural subsidiary, A.M. Kilimo. A.M. Ventures aims to contribute to Kenya’s national food security, especially by utilizing modern irrigation methods in marginal lands. The company’s agricultural project is located near the planned Kenyan government’s mega irrigation scheme of Galana-Kulalu that seeks to put one million acres of land under irrigation agriculture.

A.M. Ventures intends to cultivate in its scheme staple crops such as maize, beans, potatoes and vegetables, among others, but the company launched its agricultural project with cultivation of African bird’s eye chili peppers (ABE). Botanically known as Capsicum frutescens and in Kiswahili as kachachawa, ABE is in great demand worldwide due to its variety of uses. It is most commonly used as a spice, especially in Asian countries. However, it is also used in food preparation and pharmaceuticals.
